2008 SEMI-FINALISTS LIST


2009 Guidelines

Types of material: Full-length plays only.
We have eliminated the one-act category.  No plays shorter than one hour will be accepted.

Frequency: Annual

Remuneration:
1st place: $500 and a workshop production for the winner in our 2009-2010 season.

Workshop production for overall winner in our 2008-2009 season. 

Finalists (4-6 plays) receive a public staged reading in NYC with a professional director and cast.

Guidelines: No musicals or adaptations.  Full length or long (60min and up) one-acts only. Unpublished original work only.  Not produced professionally in NY, NJ or CT (Readings and workshops allowed if no press invited.  See below for more details of what we’re looking for.)

Submission:

There is no limit on number of submissions, but admin fee applies to each script  Please send one check or money order to cover all entries.

NO ADMIN FEE for writers who have had previous Reverie readings or productions, including previous contest finalists. Previous semi-finalists, however, still must send an admin fee.

Selection Process:

First Round - each script is read by two volunteer readers - typically a mix of writers, directors, actors, producers and other theatre professionals (contact Kimberly@reverieproductions.org to volunteer to be a contest reader), who rank the plays to help us cull down to 25-30 semi-finalists.

Semifinalists - Semifinalists are announced in March-April 2009, and will be read by a panel of four including Literary Manager Kimberly Wadsworth and Artistic Director Colin D. Young.

Finalists - Public reading with professional actors and directors of the 4-6 finalists presented in May-June 2009.

Winners in each category announced in June-July, 2009.
